Follow the steps below to complete this WebQuest.
1. Check out the Evaluation Procedures. Please keep these in mind as you proceed.
2. Individually, click on the appropriate link below, and read your role description. Use the links provided to get you started. Gather information using the World Wide Web as well as other resources (books, videos, etc.), keeping the focusing questions in mind.
3. Meet with the other specialists in your field to devise a list of the 5 most important issues involving the oil sands from your role’s point of view. These are the issues you will be bringing forth to your solution cracking group.
4. Meet with your solution cracking group. Together, using the knowledge and expertise of each specialist, you will formulate a viable solution to the current controversies surrounding the Alberta oil sands.
5. Plan how you will present your solution to the board of directors. You are being given creative freedom for presenting your solution, but please ensure your presentation includes all three points of view (economic, environmental & aboriginal) and that it is appropriate. If you are unsure about something, please run your idea by the project manager (your teacher)!
6. Present your solution to the board of directors. Be prepared to discuss solutions the other groups have presented and to defend your own groups’ solution.
